One-day road trips, locally tested.

Three full-day routes we’d actually plan ourselves — the west-coast beach circuit, a UNESCO Willemstad day, and a family-friendly loop. Each comes with a stop-by-stop timeline and a ready-to-go Google Maps route.

≈ 10 hours

Westside Beach-Hopping

Six beaches and a cliffside lunch. Crystal-clear water, wild pigs at sunrise, sea turtles by mid-morning, postcard cliffs in the afternoon. The full west-coast circuit in a single day.

1

08:30

Playa Porto Marie

Double-reef snorkeling — and the friendly wild pigs that wander down to the shore for a morning stroll.

2

10:00

Playa Daaibooi

Laid-back local beach. Snorkel from shore with the resident sea turtles.

3

11:30

Playa Cas Abou

Pristine white sand and full facilities — chairs, showers, snorkel/kayak rentals. Small entrance fee, worth every penny.

4

13:15

Playa Forti Restaurant — lunch

Cliffside table with sweeping ocean views. Try the fresh catch, stoba, or local iguana soup — and watch the cliff jumpers below.

5

14:45

Playa Kenepa Grandi (Grote Knip)

The most photographed beach on the island. Postcard from the lookout, then jump in for the post-lunch swim.

6

15:50

Playa Kenepa Chikitu (Kleine Knip)

Smaller, more intimate sister beach. Local favorite — peaceful, often quiet.

7

17:00

Playa Lagun

Dramatic cliffs and a reef-walled cove. Best golden-hour snorkel of the day — the light turns the reef magical.

🎒Pack: snorkel gear, reef-safe sunscreen, and cash (USD or XCG) for the Cas Abou entrance + chair rentals.

Best for: beach lovers, snorkelers

Road Trip 2 · Culture · City

≈ 11 hours

A Day in Willemstad

From the Curaçao Liquor distillery to a 1732 synagogue, the heaviest museum in the Caribbean, an Otrobanda art walk, and a harbor-view dinner. A full city day with culture, food, and shade between stops.

1

09:00

Chobolobo — Curaçao Liquor Factory

Tour the original distillery where the famous blue Curaçao liqueur is made. Tastings included.

2

10:30

Handelskade waterfront walk

The famous candy-colored facades along Sint Annabaai.

3

11:00

Mikvé Israel Synagogue

Oldest in continuous use in the Americas (1732). If it’s closed, swap in the Maritime Museum nearby.

4

12:30

Early lunch at Plasa Bieu

Local market food court — kabritu stoba, funchi, fresh juice. Only open 11:00–14:30, so don’t be late.

5

14:00

Cross the Queen Emma Bridge

Floating wooden bridge to Otrobanda. Catch the swing if a ship’s coming through.

6

14:30

Kurá Hulanda Museum

Important museum on the African slave trade, set in a restored merchant compound. Allow up to 90 minutes.

7

16:00

Otrobanda art walk

Murals and small galleries through the Otrobanda backstreets — at a slower late-afternoon pace.

8

18:00

Cocktails & dinner at Harbor

Harbor-view restaurant and bar overlooking Sint Annabaai. Perfect close to the day.

💧Heads up: Willemstad gets hot when you’re on foot. Bring a refillable water bottle and hydrate between stops.

Best for: beach lovers, snorkelers
