Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about renting a car and exploring Curaçao with us — booking, pricing, pickup, and driving the island.
1
Booking & Reservations
How do I reserve a car?
The easiest way is to book directly on our website using the Book Now button — just pick your dates and your car. You can also reach us by phone at +5999 667 7777 or email info@aroundcuracaorental.com and we’ll set everything up for you. You’ll receive a confirmation once your booking is set.
How far in advance should I book?
You can book anytime, but we recommend reserving ahead during the busy season (roughly December through April) to guarantee your preferred vehicle. Last-minute bookings are welcome too, subject to availability.
Can I change or cancel my reservation?
Yes — just contact us as early as possible and we’ll do our best to accommodate any changes to your booking.
Is a deposit or credit card required?
A refundable security deposit of $350 USD is taken at pickup and returned once the car comes back in good condition. You can pay the deposit by cash or credit card.

Our Cars
What types of cars do you offer?
We keep a focused, well-maintained fleet: an Economy Small car for affordable city driving, a roomier Sedan, and an Economy Compact SUV that’s great for reaching the island’s more rugged corners — available as a 7-seater on request.
Are the cars automatic or manual?
All of our vehicles are automatic transmission — easy and relaxed to drive, whatever the road.
Are the cars fuel-efficient?
Yes. Our cars are clean, modern, and chosen for good fuel economy — so you spend less at the pump and more time exploring.
Can I add extras like a booster seat?
Yes — we offer booster seats and snorkeling goggles, both selectable as options in our reservation system when you book. Just add them to your booking and we’ll have them ready at pickup.
4
Driver Requirements
What’s the minimum age to rent?
The minimum rental age is 21 years old.
What kind of driver’s licence do I need?
A valid driver’s licence from your own country is all you need — no international driving permit is required.
Can someone else drive the car too?
Absolutely — one additional driver is included free with every rental. They just need to meet the same age and licence requirements.
5
Pickup, Delivery & Return
Where do I collect the car?
You can collect your car at our office at the Harbor Hotel Curaçao, Breedestraat Z/N, Willemstad — easy to reach from anywhere on the island.
Do you offer airport or hotel pickup?
Yes — and it’s free. We run a complimentary private shuttle from the airport to get you on the road, and shuttle you back to the airport at the end of your rental. We also offer free pickup from most hotels and locations across Curaçao. For places far from the city, please request confirmation of your pickup location when booking.
What should I bring at pickup?
Please bring your valid driver’s licence, your booking confirmation, a passport or ID, and your deposit method. That’s all you need to grab the keys.
What is the fuel policy?
Our cars are provided with a full tank at the start of your rental and should be returned with a full tank.
6
Driving in Curaçao
Which side of the road do they drive on?
In Curaçao you drive on the right-hand side of the road, with the steering wheel on the left — the same as most of the Americas and continental Europe.
Are the roads easy to drive?
Main roads around Willemstad and the resort areas are well-paved and straightforward. Some tracks leading to remote beaches in the west (Banda Bou) are unpaved — for those, our Economy Compact SUV is the ideal choice.
Where do I refuel?
Fuel stations are easy to find in and around Willemstad and along the main routes. We recommend filling up before heading to the quieter western end of the island, where stations are fewer.
Is roadside assistance really included?
Yes — free 24/7 roadside assistance comes with every rental. If anything happens on the road, call us any time and we’ll help you out.
7
Insurance & Safety
What does the insurance cover?
Every rental comes with comprehensive cover as standard — both Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) are included, with an own-risk deductible of just $350 USD. Here’s what that protects:
Third-party liability (TPL/WA): meets the local statutory requirements (LAM), covering property damage and bodily injury to third parties.
CDW — collision & damage: damage or total loss from collisions, overturning, plunging into water, or window breakage, including hitting stray animals, birds, or game.
LDW — loss & theft: loss or damage from theft, attempted theft, joyriding, burglary, fraud, fire, explosion, or electrical short circuits.
Natural disasters: floods, earthquakes, tidal waves, landslides, volcanic eruptions, and storm damage (winds of 62 km/h or more).
Can I reduce my deductible (own risk)?
Yes. For an extra $20 USD per day, you can lower your own-risk deductible from $350 USD all the way down to $0 — total peace of mind on the road.
What do I do in an accident or breakdown?
First, make sure everyone is safe and the car is out of traffic. For a breakdown, call our 24/7 roadside line. In the event of an accident, contact the local police as required, then reach us at +5999 667 7777 and we’ll guide you through the next steps.
